What are Vox Groups?
Question
Answer
Vox Groups are a way for you to gather with other Vox members. You might want to get together with people who live near you or went to the same school as you, or you might be interested in more general groups for people who like knitting or video games. Groups might also be a good option to create a space for your family members who have Vox accounts.
Groups bring together posts and/or media assets from multiple individual blogs to a group blog. Anything posted to a group must also exist in an individual Vox blog as well. See
There are three types of Vox Groups:

- Public Group, by invitation
- Anyone, including non-Vox members, can view the content, and a Vox member must be invited by a current group member in order to join.
- Private Group
- Only group members can view the content in the group, and a Vox member must be invited by a current group member in order to join.
How can I find groups?
Explore is a great place to start when looking for groups. Click Groups above the search box to see recently updated groups, and if you want to search for groups with a specific interest, just type the topic of interest, such as 'video games', in the search box. When you click the search button, you'll be taken to a listing of the groups that have that word or phrase as one of their keywords. At the top of the list will be the most recently updated group. Check
Also on the Explore > Groups page is a Featured Groups section. These are active groups with content for you to explore in a variety of topics. To see all of the currently featured groups, use the Previous and Next buttons. You'll see the first few words of the description for that group along with a link to the group to explore it more in depth.
And when you visit the home page for a particular group, you'll find a listing of all the keywords for that group in the Group Keywords section at the bottom of the page. This can be a great way to be reminded of related keywords, and if one interests you, then just click on it to search for all groups using that keyword.
Another way to find public groups you might like to join is to look at the profiles of people in your neighborhood or people who share interests with you. The public groups to which someone belongs are displayed on the member profile, and you may find a great book group by looking at the profile of someone who enjoys the same authors as you. Also, some people show their recently updated groups in their sidebars with the 'My Groups' section. To learn more about adding content to your sidebars, take a look at
How do I join a group?
The group type impacts how you can join a particular group. You'll need an invitation for public by invitation groups and for private groups. To join a public group, click the Join this group link at the top of the group's home page.
Can I invite others to a group I've joined?
Whether or not you can invite other Vox members to a group depends on the group settings selected by that group's host. For some groups, anyone in the group will be able to invite other people. To do that, click the Invite to group link at the top of the group home page. That will give you a list of people in your neighborhood along with a search to invite people not in your neighborhood. You can invite up to five Vox members to a group at once.
In other groups, only the group host is able to invite additional people, so you won't see the option to invite others in those groups unless you're the group host.
How do I leave a group?
If you change your mind about joining a group, just click the Leave this group link at the bottom of the group's home page to leave the group. Leaving a group will remove that group from your profile and the groups sidebar module if you have that on your blog. You'll also be removed from the group's member listing and will no longer be able to post to that group.
